Is there a portable version of DeskPins for Windows?
I like the application for my personal use, but I would also like to use it at work, and we are not authorized to install software outside of official app store of the company.

Unfortunately, according to its official website, there's no portable version of DeskPins, only installers, which means you're going to need admin privileges. As far as solutions go, you can always talk to the IT guys and see if they can add the app to the company's store. Alternatively, there's a tool called Window On Top, which does pretty much the same thing and that doesn't require admin privileges to be installed.
Any luck getting this to work on under Windows 8.1? It runs, but I can't pin anything.

Yes, the software works on Windows 7, 8 and 10. Windows 10 isn't listed on the official website as compatible, but I installed it with Administrator access, and it starts normally without errors. I was able to pin most of the windows available on screen.
You can use Windows On Top application which does exactly the same thing as DeskPins. With a press of a shortcut you can bring and keep your windows on top.
The application does now have support for Windows 8 but the main website is down or discontinued but I managed to download the latest version of the application and I must say that it works flawlessly in Windows 7 x32. It does not need additional system resources or some kind of compatibility. Give it a try and see the behavior because I am positively sure that will work in Windows 8.
This utility is discontinued and its support for newer applications no longer exists. This means that you need to look for an alternative and Windows on Top is the right one for this job. Visit the official website and download the application. It works with all operating systems and it does support Adobe Reader X.
